Thirteen riders enjoyed an 81 mile ride from Guadalupe to Santa Barbara returning to Guadalupe via the Amtrak train out of Santa Barbara. The group met at the Amtrak Train Station in Guadalupe and the ride began at 7:30 AM. The route followed: Hwy 1 to Harris Grade, to Rucker Road, to Purisima Road, back to Hwy.1, then onto the 101 and a lunch stop at Gaviota. After lunch the riders went down 101 to Hollister Avenue and on to State Street, to the Santa Barbara Train station. Some of the riders enjoyed a dinner and refreshments at The Great American Fish Enterprise Co. and some ate leftovers from the SAG truck. Jim Atchinson drove up from the L.A. area to join the ride. He will be moving back to the Central Coast soon, having finished his nurse’s training down south. Welcome home Jim!
Thanks to Tim Brookshire for, again, doing a great job with the SAG. Tim had Maureen Black (yep, Maureen is back after having had knee surgery) and Rob and Chris Goodenough’s daughter, Brianna, helping him. The train got into Guadalupe at 7:40 PM. Tim says “The weather for the day could not have been any better and the riders were all GREAT. A very fun day for all.” |
