Tom Murphy led a group of fearless Tailwinders from TV station KCOY, through the Nipomo Mesa, down to Los Berros Road and on to Hwy 1, following the route to Avila Beach (Fat Cat’s Restaurant) and back to Santa Maria. A couple of the guys found their way home by car but one who braved the round trip ride was Maureen Black. Here’s what Maureen had to say about our club and her experience:
“When I joined the Tailwinds, I wanted to find folks to ride with. I found something different: folks who can be counted on to feed each other plus folks to ride with. This club is the best kept secret in the Santa Maria Valley. Thanks for being who you are: very, very special. 77 miles at 15 mph! We were back by 3 pm. It was an easy ride back - the hills were not too difficult and we had a strong tailwind from Guadalupe so we came home with the wind beneath our wings.” |
