A trip through the twin windmills gate has been a group favorite since inception. A slow warm up ride down 135 into Los Alamos. From a short rest stop in this increasingly touristy town, ride South on 101 until making a left turn crossing all lanes of the freeway. This is a very serious and dangerous crossing. Take your time and wait for a large gap. Take your time. Alisos Canyon is a terrific ride and will calm your nerves and make you forget the 101 crossing. A long, gentle climb with a nice descent onto Foxen Canyon and it is down hill for quite a while. Foxen will turn into Betteravia and will return you to Panera parking lot. 50-53 miles and 1,759 feet of elevation gain.
